Dear Hillcrest Families, This year, the school district has welcomed a new community member, Officer Dan Miner, as our School Resource Officer.  Officer Miner’s main duties include developing positive relationships with students and staff, working with school staff to provide preventive help and services to students and families, supporting plans for safety drills and crisis management, and helping us to plan for special events such as Election Days. On August 28, the school committee adopted two new policies: Anti-Bullying Policy (Policy JICFB) and Civil Rights Grievance Policy (Policy ACAB). These may be viewed on this website by following the links above or by referring to the district policy manual. 
Thank you to all the families who were able to attend last Thursday’s Open House!  It was so great to see classrooms abuzz with students showing their families all the work they’ve been doing.  I am always open to feedback, and heard that many families would prefer to enter school and go right to their child’s classroom and not sit through a presentation.  I can easily make this change for next year. We are members of a group of civic leaders in the Gill-Montague Regional School District. Our group was convened by Superintendent Michael Sullivan, and it includes members of the district school committee and the selectboards and finance committees of the member towns, Gill and Montague. We have been meeting for over a year to discuss the challenges facing our district and various strategies for meeting them. Some of our discussions have focused on the state’s Chapter 70 formula for providing school funding, and in doing so we have identified one aspect of the formula which we believe...

Sheffield’s Walking School Bus departs at 7:55 each day from Second Street Baking Company (4th & L Streets). On Wednesday, October 3rd, Hillcrest students can join Sheffield’s Walking School Bus.
