New Family Engagement Coordinator
Stacey Langknecht was hired this year for the newly created position of district family engagement coordinator and even though the position is part-time, Stacey is already having a full-time impact. Here are some of the things she has been up to already as she gets to know all of the district’s staff and constituents:
- Working to increase parental participation in the secondary music boosters group
- Attending our school affiliated playgroup at Montague Catholic Social Ministries
- Attending meetings of the local coalition growing out of our Community School Partnership
- Attending a meeting at Holyoke Community College for the Massachusetts Family Engagement Coalition
- Participating on the district’s Equity Steering Committee
- Organizing our first ever Community Resource Fair, lining up representatives from over 15 area organizations to attend this event on Thursday, December 5th, at our high school
- Working with Jimena de Pareja and Christine Bates to start a Gratitude and Generosity Program starting on December 11th.
Another of Stacey’s first acts was to set-up drop-in times to meet with parents and caregivers. Here is where and when you can pop in to say hi, ask a question, or get assistance on where to turn for answers:
- Mondays from 9:00-9:45 am at the middle/high school conference room
- Tuesdays from 8:30-9:30 am at the Sheffield Elementary main office
- Wednesdays from 8:15-9:00 am at the Hillcrest Elementary library
- Fridays from 2:15-3:15 pm at the Gill Elementary cafeteria
Stacey may also be reached at her school phone 863-7210 or at Stacey.langkhecht@gmrsd.org
Why might you contact Stacey?
- She can provide information and advice on how to navigate the systems and ways of schools
- She can provide in-person support at school meetings
- She can connect families with resources in our community that may help them get through a difficult situation
- She can help you consider a wide range of ways to help you child succeed or to help you access people, information, or resources within the school district
Hats-off to Ms. Langknecht for hitting the ground running! We are thrilled to have her helping us move closer to achieving our mission of challenging and supporting every student.
