Ms. Martin asks students entering 7th grade to read and review two books over the summer. Here is the assignment, which includes a list of recommended titles, a rubric for the book review, and a sample book review. The book reviews are due by September 15, but if you turn yours in on the first day of school (August 30th), you'll get extra credit!

Dear Hillcrest Families, I am writing this letter to share some sad news with you.  On Tuesday, August 14, Ms. Linda Cusack, a Hillcrest staff member, died very unexpectedly.  Our entire Hillcrest community has been shocked and saddened by this news. If your child was a preschool student at Hillcrest, he or she certainly knew Ms. Linda.
