A Note From Principal Bailey:
Dear families,
We had a wonderful All School Meeting in November. The students in Ms Reid’s, Ms. Baron’s, and Ms. Drake's classes were very brave to get up on stage and present their work. Everyone did a wonderful job.
On Wednesday, November 27, we all attended the annual Turkey Trot put on by Liz Tyler. Everyone in the school participated in some way whether it was by running or walking around the course, or by cheering others on, it was a cold day but a very fun event. We even saw a six foot tall turkey running around! Thank you to all the parents and guardians who were able to volunteer for the event.
It is definitely feeling like winter now. We had our first 2 hour delay and measurable snow. The students have loved playing in the snow making snow people and snow sculptures. Please remember to send in all of the snow gear (boots, snow pants, coat, hat, mittens) everyday and if you are able to leave a set of boots and snow pants at school, that’s even better.
A reminder about 2-hour delays, our school will not open for students until 10:30. Breakfast will not be served so students will report directly to their classrooms. Snacks will not be provided on delay days. If your preschool child normally comes for only the half day program, they will not have preschool on days with a delay.
As we move closer to the winter break, we will be very busy here at school. Please mark your calendars for the following events:
December 11- early release for staff professional development
December 20- PJ day, wear your PJs and feel comfy all day
December 20- All School Meeting at 9:00am Ms. Kelly’s, Ms. Lesenski’s, and Ms. Smith’s classes will be presenting
December 20- last day before winter break/vacation
December 23-Jan 1- winter break/vacation
Some of our classes will be making gingerbread houses for decoration (not to be eaten). I will be sending home a donation request on Monday. If you are able to donate graham crackers, vanilla frosting and/or candies, please send them in as soon as possible. The houses are just for decoration so the supplies can be older (think leftover halloween candy or graham crackers from the summer).
During the winter vacation, please try to keep a consistent bedtime routine. Encourage your child to continue to practice reading, a trip to the local library is a great way to spend a vacation day. There are several activities happening at area libraries over the vacation, some of the fliers are attached to this newsletter. Families are welcome at any library for their events whether they
are a resident of that town or not. Please encourage your child to play outside as much as possible. Keeping kids active will promote good health and keep them busy.
