Principal Newsletter 5/28

  •  A huge thank you to staff, students and families for a successful administration of MCAS!  We have completed each one day session.  This data will assist us in supporting our students in reading and math for next year.

  • Monday, May 31st,  the school will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

  • There is not a set lunch menu for the remainder of the year.  I ask our amazing cafeteria staff each morning what the menu item is, and share it at morning announcements.  This is due to discrepancies with food delivery.

  • Heads up that June 4th’s Spirit Day is ‘Dress up as your favorite book character!’  There will be no masks or face paint allowed please. This is voluntary.  Students and staff can participate if they want to, it’s not a have to.

  • We will be celebrating our fifth graders at a morning assembly on Friday, June 11th.  This would normally be conducted with the whole school participating, however this year, it will only be done with the grade 5 students and their family.

  • The following guidelines have been put in place at recess regarding mask wearing.

    •     Students need to be masked in the hallways and can only remove their mask when they are outside.

    • When ‘Olie, Olie’ is called and students are in line, they need to wear their mask.

    •   Students are to place their mask on their upper arm (like in the cafeteria) to store the mask while outside, or can pull down to their chin. ( Extra masks will be placed in recess bag)

    •    Students may remove their mask if they are engaged in active play (running around).

    • Students may remove mask if they are sitting six feet apart from peer.  If they are sitting less than 6 feet, a mask needs to be worn.

    •  GMRSD employees may remove face mask outdoors if social distancing can be maintained.  This guidance applies to recess, physical education, youth sports and outdoor learning environments.

    •   Students may opt to continue wearing a mask outside if they so choose.
