Good afternoon and happy Friday from Gill Elementary

I hope you all had a nice extra hour of sleep yesterday, and are ready for the big snow this weekend. We’re hoping that we’ll be able to break the sleds out again next week.

Please remember two important pieces of information about next week. Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we will not have school. Friday was originally slated to be a day off for Turn Around Day. However, due to not having power one day in the fall, we will be having a half day of school on Friday, 1/24/20.

We have started having our School Council meetings again this year, and are fortunate enough to have two committed parent members, two committed teacher members, and a community representative. Meetings are open to the public, and the next one is on Wednesday, February 12th, at 3:45.

This week’s Read Aloud has been posted onto the school’s Facebook page and website. It is Say Something by Peter Reynolds, and was read as a whole school at January’s All-School Meeting. I encourage you to take a look at it and discuss the messages with your children.

Lastly, the School Committee is seeking members to serve on the screening committee to assist with the search for a new Superintendent. Please see the attached for information.

Thank you,

Conor Driscoll
