Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School Principal’s Update – February 4, 2022

Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School Principal’s Update –

The TFHS Extravaganza that was originally planned for 2/15/21 has been postponed and will be announced as soon as we have a new date.

TFHS Basketball

The basketball season is winding down with only a few more home games for our girls and boys teams. Come and cheer on our teams before you miss out. You can find the schedules on ArbiterSports. Also, on the same night as the TFHS Extravaganza, our Varsity Boys team will be hosting Pioneer. We look forward to seeing you at both events.

TFHS Shadow Day and 8th Grade Tours

We are bringing back both the “Shadow Day” for 8th graders who are interested in shadowing a TFHS student, and the “8 th Grade Tours”. These are two different opportunities for our 8th graders to learn more about our programming and the exciting things going on at TFHS. Look for more information on both of these events very soon.

Teen Health Survey

The Communities That Care Coalition of Franklin County and the North Quabbin work with schools to conduct an annual regional Teen Health Survey to all 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students. We will administer the survey to 8th grade students on Monday, February 7th, and we are finalizing a date for the high school students. A notification and consent form was sent our 8 th grade families, and once we have a date for the high school students, we will send it to those families as well. The purpose of the study is to gather the information needed to plan programs which support students and reduce problem behaviors in our schools and communities. The survey asks students about behaviors that affect their health and well-being, including substance use, violence, diet, exercise, and school. The survey is entirely anonymous and it will help us judge the effectiveness of current prevention and intervention efforts.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks for both high and middle school are on sale.

Staying Safe and Sanitizing:

In order to mitigate the spread of Covid, we are asking that students and staff use hand sanitizer upon arrival to the school building in the morning. Students should also use hand sanitizer when they enter the cafeteria. Our staff members will be encouraging the use of hand sanitizer often throughout the day and every time they touch their faces and/or masks.

Late Bus

Our late bus runs Mondays through Fridays, and it leaves the school at 4:00 p.m. Students who are getting help from teachers or engaged in activities which end before 4:00 are welcome to take the bus. Students who wish to take the late bus must sign up for it in the main office by 1:00 p.m.

Thank you for partnering with the Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School faculty and staff in providing our students with a great educational experience. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
