Dear Hillcrest Families,

We hope to see lots of Hillcrest families here at school tonight for our annual Read Across Hillcrest celebration!  In honor of Read Across America day, we’ll gather for a free pizza dinner followed by some fabulous read-alouds and fun craft projects.  The featured books were chosen from our new Diverse Books collection and they tell powerful stories and include beautiful illustrations. Please join us at 5:00 for dinner followed by reading activities at 5:30 and the free book shopping spree at 6:15.

A few important notes:

  • We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Lori Saylor has been selected by the Gill-Montague Regional School District as a 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award Winner. Mrs. Saylor has been an educator in the GMRSD for 30 plus years. She exhibits the highest degree of professionalism in leading grade level teams, mentoring new teachers, communicating with colleagues, and connecting with parents. She is always willing to volunteer her time for the betterment of all students.  The Excellence in Teaching Awards program is made possible by the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation in partnership with MassMutual and the Irene E. & George A. Davis Foundation.

  • We have new member of our teaching staff at Hillcrest, Mr. Nathan Murphy.  Mr. Murphy joins us a long-term substitute for our library teacher, Ms. Nadeau, who is on family leave.  He has a wide range of professional experience in education from ski instructor to Speech Language Pathology Assistant.  All of our Hillcrest students met Mr. Murphy this week and they’ve enjoyed his library classes as well as meeting his service dog, Quinn.

  • Looking ahead, please mark your calendars with these important dates:

    • Wednesday, March 6th - Early Dismissal/Teacher In-Service

    • Thursday, March 14th & Friday, March 15th -- Early Dismissal/Parent Conferences
