Friday News

March 29, 2019

Dear Hillcrest Families,

Wow!  March has really flown by!  It’s hard to believe that when we return to school on Monday, it will be April 1st! Earlier this week, I talked with our Kindergarten and First Grade students about the signs of spring they’ve observed.  Their observations included plants growing in their yards, warm and sunny recess times, and the opening of the local ice cream store! In addition to all of these important signs of spring, at Hillcrest we know it’s spring because it’s time for our Open House and Registration events. This week, we held our Kindergarten Open House and Kindergarten Registration and it was so much fun to meet new students and families! The next step in the process of welcoming new students and families  is our Preschool Open House and Registration. We hope you’ll spread the word to your friends and neighbors!

A few important notes:

  • Preschool Open House and Registration will be held here at Hillcrest on Friday, April 26th from 12:00 to 3:00.  Interested children and their families can stop by to visit our classrooms, meet our teachers and complete registration paperwork.  In order to begin preschool, students must be three years-old prior to September 1st. Spaces in preschool are limited as our class size cannot exceed 15 students. If you have any questions about preschool, please give me a call or send me an email.

  • For families who participate in Rolling Drop-Off, please remember that your child should not exit the vehicle until a staff member is at the car door to provide assistance.  Also, please remember that students must exit the vehicle from the passenger side. These routines are in place in the interest of student safety.

  • Repeat item: Now that “mud season” is upon us, please be sure to send in a set of extra clothing for your student to keep at school.  There are many days when our students’ recess adventures result in wet clothing. Having spare clothing on hand, especially extra pants and socks, makes a big difference!

  • Looking ahead, please mark your calendars with these important dates:

    • Wednesday, April 3rd --  Early Release Day

    • Friday, April 12th -- Potluck and Game Night sponsored by Friends of Hillcrest

    • Saturday, April 13th --  Bottle and Can Drive sponsored by Friends of Hillcrest

    • April 15th - 19th -- School Vacation Week

    • April 26th -- All School Meeting @ 9:00

    • April 26th -- Preschool Open House & Registration from 12:00 - 3:00

Wishing you a wonderful weekend --

Sarah Burstein
