Friday News

March 8, 2019

Dear Hillcrest Families,

We’re all looking forward to Parent-Teacher Conferences next week!  These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for building stronger home-school connections and for getting a deeper look into your student’s progress. We are dedicated to 100% turnout for Parent Conferences, so if you haven’t yet responded to your teacher’s request for a conference, please get in touch by phone or email.

A few important notes:

  • Please note that the date for March All School Meeting is Friday, March 22nd.  My apologies for listing the wrong date in last week’s Friday News!  On March 22nd, our All School Meeting theme will be Writing and we’ll enjoy presentations from Ms. Chase’s preschoolers, Mrs. Fox’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Saylor’s first graders.

  • We’re already thinking about the upcoming school year and we are getting ready to welcome NEW kindergarten students to Hillcrest at Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, March 21st at 5:30.  If you have neighbors, family members or friends with a child turning five BEFORE September 1st, please let them know about Kindergarten Open House. This special event gives new families and new students a chance to learn about kindergarten, to meet the kindergarten team, and to visit our kindergarten classrooms.

  • An important safety note regarding rolling drop-off -- Please be sure that your child does not open the car door on his or her own. It’s important that your child waits to exit the car until a Hillcrest staff member approaches the car and opens the door.  Children should only exit on the passenger’s side. These routines are in place to maintain safety for all.

  • Looking ahead, please mark your calendars with these important dates:

    • Thursday, March 14th & Friday, March 15th -- Early Dismissal/Parent Conferences

    • Thursday, March 21st -- Open House for NEW Kindergarten Students & Families

    • Friday, March 22nd -- March All School Meeting

    • Thursday, March 28th - Kindergarten Registration

Wishing you a wonderful weekend --

Sarah Burstein
