Friday News

November 23, 2022

Dear Hillcrest Families,

We had so much fun at the first annual Hillcrest-Sheffield Turkey Trot today!  Our Hillcrest students, from preschool to first grade, were very enthusiastic trotters! A very big Thank You goes out to Ms. Tyler, our PE teacher, for organizing this wonderful event! And many thanks to Ms. Castro-Santos for helping our students to create their colorful turkey crowns!

A few important news items:

  • Many Hillcrest students have been learning about the meaning of the word, “thankful.” Please be sure to ask your student what they know about being thankful.

  • Don’t forget about the November Math Challenge!  Attached to this week’s email, you will find the November Math Newsletter with the challenge included.  Each student who participates in the challenge will be entered into a drawing to win a very cool math tool! Your challenge answers can be emailed to Ms. Hirst at veronica.hirst@gmrsd.org or sent as a note in your child’s folder.

  • The GMRSD annual food drive begins when we return from the Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 28th.   Collection boxes for each grade level are located in the main entrance at school.  You may send items in your child’s backpack or drop them off at school.

  • Hillcrest will be hosting a Flu and Covid vaccine clinic on Tuesday, December 13th from 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM. It will be in the all-purpose room. Ages 0-100 are welcome for the Covid vaccine. Ages 5 and up are welcome for the Flu vaccine. Please check out last week’s Friday News for the registration link or call Nurse Jazmin Miller at 413-863-2638 for more information.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend –

Sarah Burstein, Hillcrest Principal
