Pioneer and Regionalization – Statement from School Committee Chair:

Pioneer and Regionalization – Statement from School Committee Chair: On Friday, January 30, the Recorder ran a story about Pioneer town officials’ interest in forming a planning committee to consider regionalizing with Gill-Montague. As you might expect, this topic has the potential to create a great deal of anxiety. On behalf of the Gill Montague School Committee I would like to say I believe an accurate way to characterize our current position on this topic is the following: We are interested in gathering the detailed data necessary to thoroughly examine this complex topic including studying all the options for cost-sharing efficiencies, consolidation or regionalization. Planning is not a word that accurately reflects where we are at this time. The next opportunity our community will have to learn more about this idea will be at a presentation by our Efficiency and Regionalization Grant consultants at the Montague Senior Center on February 5 at 6:30 pm. As always, the public is welcome to attend these civic leaders group meetings.
