Turners Falls High School Student Council sent a delegation of 11 students and their advisors, Beth Fortin and Megan Bendiksen, to the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils state conference for student leadership this year. The MASC Spring Conference is held annually to provide students with both motivational and educational experiences. This morning, State Representative Natalie Blais visited Sheffield along with representatives from the Western Mass Food Bank, a School Committee member, school administrators, and our Food Director to watch our breakfast in the classroom in action! Since September, we have 88% of our students participating in our program. In Ms. Wulfkuhle's First Grade English Learner group, the students are learning about animals and habitats. One of the main goals of the unit is to discuss by inquiring in order to build and present knowledge gathered through research. Two of the habitats students are exploring are the forest and the ocean, so they stopped by a trail in the forest at Barton's Cove to feel what it's like in the forest firsthand. I’d like to start this week’s letter with an expression of gratitude. Earlier in the week, I sent out a communication regarding my being absent off and on during the coming weeks while my family deals with an end-oflife illness. I have been absolutely floored by the expressions of support, offers to help, and condolences that have come my way from the Gill community.
